Coaching vs. Therapy: What’s the Difference?
Because I offer both wellness coaching and therapy, I want to help you understand the difference so you can choose the support that feels right for you.
Therapy
As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, I provide therapy through CMA Therapy LLC. Therapy is designed to help you explore and work through emotional struggles, mental health concerns, and patterns that may be rooted in the past or connected to life experiences. Therapy may be the right choice if you’re:
Experiencing anxiety, depression, or overwhelm that impacts daily life
Struggling with codependency, addiction, or unhealthy coping patterns
Wanting a safe, clinical space to process emotions and heal at a deeper level
Therapy is a healthcare service and may be eligible for insurance depending on your plan. Therapy is provided for Rhode Island Residents only.
Coaching
Through Mother Your Mind, I offer wellness coaching that blends mindfulness and self-compassion practices with practical guidance for daily life. Coaching is future-focused, action-oriented, and designed to support your growth as a mom and as a person. Coaching may be the right choice if you’re:
Wanting to feel more present, balanced, and intentional in your daily life
Craving practical tools for mindfulness and self-care
Focused on personal growth, life balance, and creating meaningful routines
Not necessarily looking for a clinical or mental health service
Coaching is not therapy, does not diagnose or treat mental health conditions, and is not covered by insurance. Coaching is available for those living in any state.
Which One Is Right for You?
If you need support with mental health challenges that interfere with daily functioning → Therapy may be the right fit. If you’re looking for guidance, structure, and accountability in living more mindfully and compassionately → Coaching may be the right fit. If you’re unsure, I’m happy to help you explore which option would best meet your needs.
